Residents in the South West, Southern and Central England and East of England have been move into drought status where they are being urged to be frugal with water.
However, the rainfall is not expected to offset Thames Water s warning to customers as thousands in the South East ran out of water just hours after swathes of England were made drought zones.
Data collected from more than 18 water companies, including Thames Water, showed that sites ranging from Oxfordshire and London, to Warwickshire, had no water or poor pressure.
