chill advisory or wind chill warnings, the worst is by far northern portions of new england from boston northwards is where it really feels bitterly cold this morning. again, improvement during the day today. as far as the winter storm warnings and watches go, everywhere in the red is a winter storm warning. from the mountains in california, right through yellow stone, the rockies, the plains, rapid city, minneapolis, quad cities, milwaukee, and everywhere in the white is what we call a winter weather advisory, that s everywhere here from new england, d.c., philly, new york, boston, and back through the midwest. you get the general impression, this is a big, huge storm as far as the size of it. it s not that intense, so here s the snowfall forecast over the next couple of days. this is today for the most part in the rockies. then the snow comes out this afternoon into areas through the dakotas. watch out, we re going to get snow mixed in with freezing rain around topeka, kansas city, e

so this is a light fluffy snow. to the south we have to deal with freezing rain and ice. the windchill, it s dangerous outside today at the bus stop or heading outside for any extended period of time from albany to boston northwards. also still pretty cold, windchills in the northern plains. so now for the though and ice and in some cases a little bit of freezing rain. we re looking at the freezing rain potential, areas of pink. so extreme northeast corner of arkansas and then a good chunk of northern alabama, northern georgia, you ll deal with freezing rain during 9 day today. so getting to school, work, no problem, but you could have coating of ice on any elevated surfaces throughout the afternoon. that includes atlanta. so deicing will also cause significant delays. everywhere in white has a chance for some snow. advisory level snow usually means about 1 to 3 inches. on the radar, it s a very wide
snowmobiling, that s where you have to head. rest of the country, unbelievable warm. yesterday was about record highs in many areas of nebraska, south dakota, iowa, towards kansas city and st. louis, near record if not record heat. and yet everywhere in yellow here was above 60 degrees. will is a map that typically would be more representative of mid march than the end of january. and even the northern cities that are typically cold like billings and minneapolis and boston were all in the 40s and 50s. so where is the cold air? it s in northern maine all the way up through areas near the hudson bay, up towards northern portions of canada and into alaska. mild air covers coast to coast the lower 48. the temperatures this morning are amazingly warm. it s hard to find areas that we have ice forming. temperatures are only below freezing from minneapolis northwards, boston northwards. everyone else excluding the rockies is well above freezing this morning. temperatures for will this afternoo
meteorologist bill karins. hello. morning. we re about to head into a beautiful stretch of weather. we could use it. we d like more yankee games to go along with that, but we ll talk about that a little later. still have rain, boston northwards. driving the mass pike, definitely wet weather out there. today will be a lot like yesterday. most of the day will be dry, but ducking showers here and there. this is the end of this pesky storm system that s been with us since last weekend. today should be dry from philly southward. it s still kind of cool. it s going to warm up in a hurry. all the warm air in the middle of the country is heading our way. all the stormy weather in the rockies and west coast. lit snow hard in the mountains in california today and tomorrow. look at philadelphia in the next couple days. they ll jump into the low 70s, upper 60s right into the upcoming weekend. absolutely gorgeous, all of the east coast. that forecast continues. today it s even in the low 80s
