In advance of its seventh season, the Boston Art Song Society has appointed a new Artistic Director. Ethan DePuy, a tenor known to Boston audiences for his performances with the Handel and Haydn Society, Music at Marsh Chapel, Emmanuel Music, Boston Landmarks Orchestra, and the Boston Opera Collaborative, will take over the post immediately.
Ann Schaefer, who led the organization for the past three seasons, has accepted a teaching position at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. We are so grateful to Ann for her leadership and vision, said DePuy. I m truly looking forward to building upon that foundation in future seasons.
Massachusetts tourism, cultural groups could see funding boost from Massachusetts House $47.7 billion budget for fiscal 2022

From Berkshire theater programs to economic development in the North Quabbin region, Massachusetts House lawmakers approved millions more in tourism spending in the fiscal 2022 budget in hopes of revitalizing the sector amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The House unanimously approved a $47.7 billion budget around 2:30 a.m. Thursday after hours of negotiations, boosting spending for economic development, mental health services and education.
“This budget meets the needs of our residents who have endured an unprecedented level of health and economic challenges over the past year,” Speaker Ron Mariano, a Quincy Democrat, said in a statement after the vote early Thursday.

With a small cast and no large choir, the ensemble has arranged 30 arias, recitatives, choruses, and chorales from Bach s masterpiece in its own version.
