Shells rained down as our team visited a frontline town in eastern Ukraine where volunteers were trying to evacuate civilians. Two were injured and immediately taken for medical treatment in a safer location. Ukrainian authorities are desperately trying to persuade those remaining in Lysychansk to get out while they still can. It's a frustrating task for volunteers who race into the city, trying to avoid Russian rocket fire, and find people to evacuate and persuade those who don't want to.
A Russian rocket attack hit a school in the city of Bakhmut in Ukraine's Donetsk region on June 8, turning part of the building into a pile of rubble and shredding textbooks. The school was empty at the time of the attack. Current Time's Borys Sachalko visited the site.
