Get the facts on Washington Borough’s garbage collection change | Letter
Updated Jan 26, 2021;
I’m responding to Dale Parichuk’s Jan. 20 letter, “Washington Borough garbage collection costs going through the roof.” Had The Express-Times made any effort to fact-check his claims, it would have revealed that the borough council has been working to take back solid waste collection for more than two years. I was initially directed by the council to begin studying the proposal in late 2017. Since that time, a number of factors, including the closure of our incinerator and the collapse of commodities markets, have created a solid waste crisis.
