and i think he wants to do it. ted cruise, what do you think? ted cruise very interesting. he has been playing nice with the establishment lately after black fall and green eggs and ham and standing up and doing that very dramatic filibuster against the debt ceiling and for, you know, for the repeal of obamacare i should say. so back then people say is he a frick. he doesn t have a shot. i don t know. i think with this border thing, i think throws everything into flux. do i think ted cruise is going to be the nominee? i don t think so. but with general kind of out there and romney and all the question marks about how we are handling immigration, ted cruz, you know, might surprise at love people. he obviously will get the grass roots excited. he will run well in iowa and new hampshire. i don t think though bill in the end when you go through iowa, new hampshire, i don t see he wins new hampshire. go to south carolina, maybe get some traction, then in places like florida and then y
need more money it process them through. this border thing, can you be specific? double i doubling the number is not enough, the fact that we have more than we have, the fact we re deporting more, what specifically would you call a secure at every hundred feet, every hundred yards? we want to have control over our border. there are parts of the united states we have that. a perfect example. duncan hunter from san diego had a great op-ed piece that specifically said in his area of the country they put in a double fence and with it they have sensors and rapid teams they can deploy to anybody that breaks in. they had a decrease of 90% of illegal immigration at that point. interestingly, there are other places in the country the border is wide open and that s where they re going. we ve got to secure the southern border. the congressman sounds a little disappointed in what the president s done so far.
bret: this amendment say it would double 350 miles of fencing already deployed to 700 miles of fencing. that s single strand which does not work. the big problem is people flying in the country and oversaying their visas. that s 40% right there. this border thing is just ridiculous. this wall thing. it s like bret: we are going to talk about this wall thing and a lot of other things all week long on this debate. thank you very much. by the way, the senate floor 67-26, will he that alexander arriving from the airport voting aye. stay tuned for a surprise visitor during a local weather report. that means your smartphone, her blackberry, his laptop, mark s smartphone. but i m still on vacation. .stilln the plan. nice! so is his tablet, that guy s hotspot, thentern s tablet. the intern gets a tablet? everyone s devices. his, hers, oh sorry. all easier to manage on the share everything plan
and of course, drug cartels and the drug war in mexico have played a huge role. but james, republicans are going to have to talk about border security, border security, border security to sell the other part of this. we saw john mccain and jeff flake, the two senators from arizona, having to sort of go back and forth and back and forth and slowly move their constituents along. and the way they do that is by talking tough on the border. yes. and this is politics playing out. right after the election, even sean hannity said well, maybe i m for some kind of a border thing. the people in the republican party voting in these republican primaries, they re not sold on this. and i think senator mccain found that when he went back to arizona. it s going to happen time and time again. and they do have to bring them along. it s going to be tough in louisiana, too, isn t it? very. mary landrieu. is mary, the democratic senator, going to talk about we need immigration reform? i ll let h
angry right now. the king of jordan is getting his perspective, saying the white house was going to seal the deal. it s obvious he s optimistic about this but i think he could be only one of the only people. the white house has put out feelers. i ve seen quotes saying the pre-1967 border thing is a starting point for negotiations more than anything. i don t know where he s getting his optimism from at this point, actually. given that and what you said about the white house, do you think the white house believes the peace deal is possible? on some level, probably. i think it s a tall order, first of all, a tall order for a president s first team when there s an election coming next year. i think it s a tall order. the president, this was obviously a priority for the president. not only did he make this speech last week, he made this speech which was not friendly towards israel and he s going to speak to apac, the huge pro-israel
