Boone Board of Education talks special election results

The Boone Board of Education met April 6 in special session to discuss the official election results of the March 2 bond issue for the construction of a new elementary school.
A total of 1,231 votes were cast in favor of constructing the new school, with 297 no votes received, for a total of 1,528 votes cast.
School board member-at-large Matthew Elthon received 1,159 votes to remain on the board. He had been appointed on Oct. 5, 2020, to replace former board member Rev. Joey Weber. His was the only name on the ballot, with 62 scattering votes (the collective votes for any write-in candidates who each received less than five percent of the votes cast for an office), for a total of 1,221 votes.
