None more so than Axe, the St. Clair Shores Police Department s K-9 dog that was killed in the line of duty.
The beloved German shepherd, killed during a police incident over two years ago, has been immortalized with a statue in front of the police station, the centerpiece of a newly created pocket park at 11 Mile and Jefferson Avenue.

A ceremony was held Nov. 30 on a wintry morning. Everybody who had a hand in this just did a terrific job, said St. Clair Shores Police Chief Todd Woodcox. I don t think there could be a more fitting way to pay tribute to Axe.
