Ann Arbor s Woody Allen mural defaced -- again

Ann Arbor’s Woody Allen mural defaced again Updated Apr 14, 2021; Facebook Share ANN ARBOR, MI Ann Arbor’s Woody Allen mural has been defaced for a second time this year. The mural featuring the writer and filmmaker at the corner of Liberty and State Streets was vandalized with the phrase “rapist scum.” An MLive photographer took images of the graffiti Wednesday morning. The Ann Arbor Police Department stated that no one had reported the vandalism. Building owner Jeff Hauptman, CEO of Oxford Companies, could not be reached for comment Wednesday. “The Bookstore Mural,” as it’s known, was painted by artist Richard Wolk in 1984 outside what was Discount Records, now the Potbelly Sandwich Shop, and David’s Books. In addition to Allen, it features Edgar Allan Poe, Hermann Hesse, Franz Kafka and Anais Nin.
