The Hawks team investigating the increase in kidnappings of business owners and protection fee rackets has called for the Stutterheim magistrate’s court to deny bail to a 40-year-old extortion accused who is also believed to be connected to a string of kidnappings.
Two men have been been charged with extortion, attempted murder, and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition after allegedly collecting protection money from foreign-owned shops in Stutterheim.
Four men arrested while allegedly conspiring to commit a kidnapping a scourge gripping the province in Kidd’s Beach this week will apply for bail in two weeks’ time.
