For many Mid-Ohio Valley residents, last week may have felt like the turning of many pages, as students returns to schools, larger numbers of residents began the vaccination process, and both a presidential and gubernatorial inauguration celebrated our democracy and the peaceful transition of power.
Ahead of his second inauguration Friday, Gov. Jim Justice Thursday applauded state Board of Education members for standing their ground against two teachers’ unions that filed lawsuits to block the mandate for in-person school. “I am really happy our schools have reopened for in-person learning. It’s going smoothly at this time,” Justice said

¯ An officer was dispatched Dec. 22 to 615 10th St., Marietta, in reference to a domestic disturbance.
¯ Officers met with the victim on Dec. 22 in reference to an acquaintance borrowing her vehicle and not returning it. The vehicle was later located at an apartment complex.
¯ A patrolman was dispatched Dec. 23 to Bridgeport Equipment, 15 Acme St., in reference to a theft complaint. A shoplifter, who has been identified, stole BBs and carbon dioxide cartridges.
¯ An officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Ohio Street in reference to a recovered abandoned BB gun and other personal effects. The property was obtained and placed into evidence.
