The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has said the Eid-el Fitr festival will hold tomorrow (Thursday).
It asked Muslims in the country to observe Ramadan fast today (Wednesday).
The NSCIA, which made the clarifications in a statement in Abuja, said the crescent has not been sighted to end Ramadan fast.
The statement was signed by the Deputy Secretary-General, of NSCIA, Prof. Salisu Shehu.
The NSCIA said: “The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) – under the leadership of its President-General and Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alh. Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni – wishes to inform the Nigerian Muslim Ummah that there was no proven report of the sighting of the crescent of Shawwal, 1442 AH on the 29th of Ramadan, 1442 AH.
Police, FRSC deploy men on roads, others for Sallah The Punch

The police in Adamawa State have said it deployed no fewer than 1,207 personnel to ensure a hitch-free Eid-ei- Fitir Sallah celebration in the state.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, stated this in Yola.
He said, “The deployment is to ensure hitch-free Eid el Fitri celebrations and reduce crime before, during and after Sallah.
Similarly, the Federal Road Safety Corps said on Tuesday 1,820 personnel had been deployed across the state to to ensure crash-free and smooth traffic flow during the celebration.

Local government areas of Doma and Keana in Nasarawa State have come under siege of bandits suspected to be herdsmen, whose stock in trade is to invade the Tiv communities, kill the farmers and villagers, as well as displace the living from their ancestral homes, reports Igbawase Ukumba
The rise in insecurity in the local government areas of Doma and Keana in Nasarawa State could be attributed to the influx of persons suspected to be bandits, masquerading as herdsmen, to the council areas as a result of their displacement from other parts of the country.
Unfortunately, the evil men seem to be enjoying some degrees of patronage and support from their local collaborators in the communities, thus worsening the situation.
Insecurity: Police moves to avert attack at Sallah, deploys 4, 500

The Nasarawa state command of Nigeria Tuesday deployed 4500 personnel across the state to provide security and avert possible break down of law and order before, during, and after the sallah celebration in the state.
Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa state command, Bola Longe who disclosed this in a statement issued in Lafia ordered frequent surveillance and visibility policing across the state to forestall any breach of peace and ensure hitch-free celebrations
According to the statement by the image-maker of the command, Ramhan Namsel enjoined citizens to go about the celebrations without fear or apprehension noting adding that the Divisional Police officers (DPOs), Operational Commanders, and their supervisory Area commanders were directed to ensure the safety and security of the public.
The Police Command in Nasarawa says it has deployed 4,500 personnel to ensure hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebrations. This is contained in a statement issued by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Ramhan Nansel, and made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Lafia. Nansel quoted the Commissioner of Police, Bola Longe, as congratulating Muslims in the state on the successful completion of this year’s Ramadan fasting. He called on the people of the state to use the period of the celebrations for sober reflection and offer prayers for the peace and stability of the state and the nation at large.
