At the time, the city leaders turned 7th Street into Capitol Boulevard in order to make the train depot the entrance to the City of Boise.

On April 16, in 1925, the Union Pacific Depot opened to fanfare, and the city celebrated the culmination of a decades-long campaign to extend main line passenger rail service to town.
