A27 gas leak: Chichester Bypass expected to remain closed overnight

A MAIN road is expected to remain closed overnight due to a gas leak. The A27 Chichester Bypass remains closed in both directions between Oving Road and Bognor Road while engineers carry out urgent repairs to a damaged gas network. The incident happened at about 4pm this afternoon at a building site off Shopwhyke road, and Highways England have also reported a burst water main in the area. Gas company SGN said the closure is likely to be in place overnight and motorists are advised to plan alternative routes.
