Part of it runs through the Bangor City Forest. Part of it runs through the Town of Orono. And yet a third part of the Boardwalk is owned by the University of Maine. These 3 entities have worked together, for years, to watch over this treasure, according the University s website. The Bog Boardwalk is a joint venture of the University of Maine, the City of Bangor, and the Orono Land Trust.

The Bog Boardwalk has been visited by over 350,000 people from all 50 states, and more than 30 countries since it opened in 2003. The Boardwalk loop trail is about one mile. To protect the environment and wildlife, dogs are not allowed.
