democrats doubt the speefrp will be worth the air time. i expect the president to lie to the american people. why do i expect this? because he has been lying to the american people and continues lying to the american people. with democrats refusing to give the wall he is warning he may declare a national emergency to get his way. mike pence told reporters in an off camera briefing that the white house council is looking at whether he can declare his emergency despite the fact that he said there s no doubt he has that authority. i may declare a national emergency dependent on blast going what s going to happen over the next few days. he would be challenged in court because there clearly is no emergency. there s no reason for this. it would be wrong. it would be horrible policy and i m totally and completely against it. from a legal standpoint he could do it. with the shutdown entering the third week hundreds of thousands are facing the prospect of working without pay.
let s be clear, that is a change of strategy. a couple of weeks ago he was tweeting how he was alone, not really showing his face to the public in the midst of the shut down. now he decided he needs to take it as many presidents have before him and try to clang the argument, to frame the conversation. in some ways some of these appearances have been about trying to box democrats in by saying there s been progress made and trying to roll back what a wall is. he is saying he wants something steel and see through. i think the president s task tomorrow will be in his mind to try to frame public opinion about the wall. the problem is as chris points out this has been a public relations effort that has been riddled in falsehoods. i think it can if it is not grounded in fact. i think we are likely to get
