The county’s law enforcement watchdog is giving an update on upcoming changes as a result of Measure P’s passage last fall. Karlene Navarro, the director of the Independent Office of Law Enforcement Review and Outreach or IOLERO, appeared before the Board of Supervisors yesterday and said her office is in the midst of creating a law enforcement whistleblower hotline and body worn-camera posting program. Navarro also stated that her office is in the process of hiring two new attorneys to aid in the review of allegations of wrongdoing within the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office. Also discussed was the future of the Community Advisory Council and it’s independence from IOLERO as well as budgetary concerns.
