their people. and what i would say to democrats is we need a narrative as well. we need a narrative that says what does a thriving, prosperous, multi-racial democracy look like? in terms of all the hope, all the aspirations that that brings. so i do fear what i had seen earlier in my journeys throughout white america, in terms of a white nationalist, violent, extremist and paranoid tenor is now in the mainstream. katherine, although as rich pointed out, white nationalism is a huge issue in the republican party. it s not the only demographic paranoia that s taking hold. you are an expert on religious nationalism. tell us a little bit more about how these two concepts intersect. what exactly is religious nationalism? how has it manifested itself in our body politics and the right in this country? that s right, religious nationalism, or christian
struggle that we have for piece and racial justice. to that point one of the things i just want to hit myself for keep saying it is here we go again having this same conversation whether it s mass shooting or the george floyd killing. now this hateful mass shooting in buffalo. is it going to change anything. will people say the right thing for two or three days and then it s forgotten. it s an incredibly powerful speech. among things the president said is this. supreme si is a poison. it s a poison [ applause ] running through our body politics. it s been allowed to fester and grow right in front of our eyes. no more. no more. in a very different context we were talking about the authenticity of political candidates. that s authentic joe biden. his life shaped by personal
