i mean, is it? when i was a kid, you had a pair of shorts and that was itof. yeah. you didn t even. i mean, sometimes you weren t even sure where you. you re swimming in. whatimming and did i it. now, look at that. tomean, that s 45 minutes to get dressed to go swimming. you. she s got gloves on. she s got zipper, body armor on. she s got long pants and a ski mask. what is the point of getting weask.e point? s craz yeah, it s crazy. jamie, don t we all wear mask? i was.ell you it was really deep. yeah, it was. i did it. to tell you the truth, if i went to the beach, i wouldn t even notice these. even at women s faces at the beach. i m. is, isn t it?possible like, is it possible that these face masks will go out of business when china when the china economy, when someonse introduces the hat with the brim , which i feel like doesunder of the same thing without the founder of this company. i believe her name is marissa, but her face. erface.
the scenario where they see somebody that is confusing. they have body armor on. maybe they have tactical gear on. out into the mix, as you just said, now here comes a citizen who is also armed, as many people are. throughout america, especially in texas. and now you have the shoot, don t shoot decision to make if you are the police officer. and that may have contributed to the number of casualties in this scenario. they work of law enforcement is incredibly challenged here. because of where we are, and we still have people armed who shouldn t possess a gun. the one thing we know about the shooter, and we know nothing else, is that they shouldn t have possessed this gun. they were someone who should not have had a gun today. frank, that is exactly what i was immediately thinking of. just how frightening this must be and how difficult of a situation it must be for the law enforcement as they are entering this dynamic shooting
assumption is that if they have body armor on, i would assume that it s different unless it s some real viable reason to present differently. so with those things in mind when you respond, when you respond to a high probability to someone who is contracted a plan and decided to go in and commit mass murder or mass shooting. so in the case of uvalde and others, clearly, our training is that we go in, we in some cases, when you re gonna be the focus of the shooter or where they diverge their attention to, you can ignore, you can do many things to save the lives of others until we can get additional backup there. so that s the training, and that s how most of our officers across the country would operate. cedric alexander, your thoughts on what we ve been hearing from republicans. you talked about how we have to address the guns, and i ve read half a dozen statements that
minute, less than? that you think about these kids, these young adults, these 18 year olds with body armor on. what are we doing here? locking more doors, having less entry during covid we needed to open windows, we need to open doors, we need more ventilation. what happens in terms of fire drills? every one of these ideas it s about getting more guns in the schools when gun violence is the number one reason for kids deaths. why don t we try something new and responsible gun owners are saying the same thing? let s get less of these serious weapons of war off the street. let s get them out of the hands of 18 year olds. let s actually try to make schools safe welcoming places of learning that they should be. and trust teachers with books and with teaching kids and meeting their needs as opposed
