the trump administration wants to tighten work requirements for millions of americans who receive federal food assistance through the snap program. the u.s. department of agriculture is proposing a rule that would restrict the ability of states to exempt work eligible adults from having to obtain steady employment in order to receive food stamps. let s start with what snap is. it stands for supplemental, nutrition assistance program and serves roughly 40 million americans. currently, able body adults between 18 to 49 who don t have children are required to work 20 hours a week to maintain snap benefits. if they don t meet the work requirements, work body adults without dependents can currently
