The fourth edition of the IHF Men's World Championship took place in Germany 62 years ago.
Won by Romania, who were coached by Oprea Vlase and Niculae Nedeff, the Netherlands were one of the 12 teams who participated.
Their campaign was short-lived, though. An opening loss against hosts Germany (7:33) was followed by a defeat against France (11:21) in preliminary group B, and they were out of contention.
The Dutch made their first IHF Men's World Championship since 1961 at the TAURON Arena in Krakow on Friday (13 January) and celebrated it with a comprehensive win over an Argentina side who could not produce a performance to match their opponents.
This group F opening clash of Poland/Sweden 2023 saw the European side in total control as the South American side could only score eight goals in the second half.
Group F
Handball has been making huge gains in the Netherlands, but the process was long and arduous, both for the men's and the women's national teams. The latter won the first IHF World Championship title in 2019, with a golden generation, but the men's team has also been developing well and producing outstanding talents in recent years.
