PBA to draft new policies after Parks, Slaughter cases

PBA chairman Ricky Vargas of TNT made the announcement days after his team felt it was left in the dark when Parks decided to skip the upcoming PBA season due to “personal reasons.” Vargas said that vice chairman Bobby Rosales of Terrafirma will be tasked to oversee the group which will also study other cases like Parks and last year’s decision of Greg Slaughter to “take a break from basketball.”

Mar 9, 2021 THE PBA is set to draft stronger policies to better address issues between players and their mother teams. PBA board chairman Ricky Vargas disclosed the league decided to form a study group to take a look at various cases, such as Ray Parks recent issue with TnT Tropang Giga. The group will be headed by vice-chairman Bobby Rosales, the league announced during a virtual press conference on Tuesday after it concluded a two-day planning session prior to the start of the 46th season. Vargas however, clarified the move was not merely a knee-jerk reaction to Parks’ recent decision to skip playing for TnT this season due to what he termed as ‘personal reasons.’

Published March 10, 2021, 4:07 PM Photo from Chooks to Go Terrafirma head coach Johnedel Cardel sees Joshua Munzon as a “complete package” and worthy of the No.1 spot in Sunday’s virtual PBA Rookie Draft. “He can score, he can defend, he’s also coachable, pero ang pinaka-mahalaga sa tingin ko mabait na bata (most important of all is he’s a good kid),” said Cardel when contacted Tuesday night by  Manila Bulletin. Terrafirma owns the first pick as well as  the eighth spot that the team received from San Miguel Beer in a trade that involved Rookie of the Year CJ Perez – the No. 1 pick in 2018.
