Alien control officer Mark Leslie Gonzales said Antonello submitted his passport to extend his stay when BI personnel discovered that he was included in the watchlist for being a fugitive from justice. Gonzales said the Italian has been in the country since 2019 as a tourist. “We immediately coordinated with the BI’s fugitive search unit (FSU) to effect his arrest,” he said. In his report to BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, FSU chief Bobby Raquepo said Antonello was arrested with the help of PNP- Criminal Investigation and Detection Group operatives.

Julien Barbier, 39, was arrested by the Bureau of Immigration’s (BI) Fugitive Search Unit at the Clark International Speedway, Mabalacat City, Pampanga, in joint operations with the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Regional Field Unit 3, Angeles District Field Unit (CIDG RFU3, CFU), Intelligence Service, Armed Forces of the Philippines – Military Intelligence Group 41 (ISAFP MIG41) and the National Capital Region Police Office – Regional Special Operations Group. According to BI FSU Chief Bobby Raquepo, Barbier was arrested following official communication received from French authorities informing the BI that Barbier is wanted in France.

Below is the report of BI posted on their Facebook page. Intelligence agents of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested on Monday afternoon two Koreans for allegedly working without a visa. BI Intelligence Division Chief Fortunato Manahan, Jr. identified the aliens as Kang Jiwon, 41, and Han Sungmin, 45. The duo were arrested by BI ID Regional Intelligence Unit 7 agents in a posh resort in Barangay Agus Road, Lapu-lapu City, Cebu province. According to Manahan, the operation was a result of a mission order issued by BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, following complaints received from private individuals against the two.
