so as you said, it was an early morning quake and you know, people as far as cobble, had felt the aftershocks, they had felt the impact of it and practical and course because it took place in the district. you know, places that are harder to reach places that haven t seen a lot of development. the devastation has been a man, as you said, hundreds injured, 100, possibly killed. we re seeing reports of hundreds of houses destroyed. the government is trying to sell helicopters to aid people. but you know, the, the issue is that the economy here has been devastated. you know, i want to son has always suffered from blood from landslide, from, from earthquakes. but getting aid to people in need has always been extremely difficult even at a time when billions of dollars within the country. and so many foreign agencies were here. now they re trying to rely as much on local agencies. but those are the ones that have felt the greatest impact from the sanctions from the cutbacks from th
hello norm taylor in under the top stories around his era, the u. s. federal reserve has raised interest rates by point 75 percent. the biggest increase in almost 3 decades is hope the move will cub soaring inflation and bring down consumer prices, which are $240.00 a highs. a chair of the central bank, jerome pow, described the current economic climate as extraordinarily challenging and uncertain, and indicated further hikes are likely we anticipate that ongoing rate increases will be appropriate. the pace of those changes will continue to depend on the incoming data and the evolving outlook for the economy. clearly, today s $75.00 basis point increase is an unusually large one. and i do not expect moves of this size to be common. from the perspective of to day, either of 50 basis point or a 75 basis point increase seems most likely at our next meeting. we will, however, make our decisions, meeting by meeting and will continue to communicate our thinking as clearly as we can
