Congress allowed an increase in food stamp benefits to expire. One in seven americans receiving foodstamps will have to cut back on food they buy. A family of four receiving the maximum allotment will see benefits cut by 36 a month. The cuts will affect people not on food stamps. According to Financial Analysis every dollar spent on foodstamps generates 1. 73 in economic growth. Foodbanks are bracing for what is about to come. Monshelle and her 4yearold son michael have to watch their spending. She has a job in local government, she still needs hep from snap.
