Ana Madigibuli 21 February, 2021, 7:15 pm Suva Lord Mayor, Councillor (Cr) Bob Kumar (right), Deputy Lord Mayor Cr Iliesa Duvuloco, council’s Parks and Gardens Committee chairman Cr Micky Krishna and Cr Ram Sanehi with the coconut seedling (Malayan dwarfs). Picture: FILE Alliance councillors on Suva City Council boycotted planting of trees to mark Arbor Day because the Lord Mayor, Councillors (Cr) Bob Kumar insisted on planting a coconut tree. This was published in The Fiji Times on February 21, 1986. The boycott was believed to be about the germinating coconut with three roots which was the symbol of the Labour Party which had been 8-7 majority over the Alliance on the council while five other councillors were independents.
