Rain comes. We get a little drier before that. Lets get a check on weather traffic, excuse me. Ive got the weather. Youve got the traffic, beverly. Good morning. Its enter mingled especially on intermingled especially on a day like today. Early incident, vehicle off the road near wilson bridge drive, still seems to be a tieup with the police there. They may have a lane blocked or the flashing lights are jamming you up out of Fort Washington trying to make the way up to the capital beltway. The beltway itself not bad. North of andrew, ritchie marlboro road into landover, volume still building into Silver Spring with your lanes open. 395 still hung up northbound before you reach the 14th street bridge. Thats going to be blocking the left lane, a crash at Boundary Channel drive. Back to you. Following a doving story out of the district doving story out of the district developing story out of the district. A stabbing happened just after 1 00 in the 200 block of 53rd street. Police say the
At some Point Washington has to deal with its spending problem. And when your dad says something, you listen. And when you dont, it usually bites you in the [ bleep ] later on. Ive had enough of it. Its time to act. The clock is now ticking on what many economists say is a nearcertain double dip recession if more than a trillion dollars in automatic spending and defense cuts are allowed to occur at the beginning of next month. And while the president is busy running the government, today nominating a new candidate for the interior department. And yesterday pleading for action to prevent the socalled sequester, republicans have been out front telling anyone who will listen that they, too, are absolutely opposed to any cuts to military and discretionary spending. I dont like the sequester. I think its taking a meat ax to our government. A meat ax to many programs, and it will weaken our national defense. However, just to be clear, Speaker Boehner says that he will not allow any new reven
i think the more the better. i know that there are some that want to clear the field or think that this is too messy. democracy is messy. now, clearly, he s one of those that may not make the main stage, so is he in denial jess? i think that honestly the republican candidates who are most hurt by the idea that they won t be able to be on this stage are the ones that aren t really running for president, they re running for vice president, and i would put bob ji jindal at the top of that list. being able to perform well, be interesting, be substantiative, be a little funny is a great way for one of those second-tier candidates to get noticed. do you remember joe biden s amazing, yes i can be brief enough moment in the debate that really got everybody sort of talking about what kind of a vp he would make. so by not letting people like bobby jindal on the stage, you re really denying him one of his only shots to get that number two spot. i do kind of feel for the guy. and i think it wo
innocent until proven guilty are now scheduled to be arraigned on july 2nd. each of the officers faces multiple counts. their union has criticized the investigation, saying it was rushed but today, the grand jury found sufficient evidence to indict on the most serious charges. including second-degree depraved heart murder involuntary manslaughter second-degree intentional assault, and misconduct in office for an illegal arrest. changes include the dropping of false imprisonment charges for all three officers who face them the dropping of some assault and misconduct charges, and the addition of reckless endangerment charges for all six officers. freddie gray s death set off waves of unrest and protests in baltimore and the eyes of the city and the country are watching how this case unfolds. joining me on the phone is baltimore city councilman brandon scott. i m also joined by a former federal prosecutor paul butler and msnbc national correspondent, joy reid. thank you all fo
did it. that was terrible. really, i mean it was terrible for him. people still remember it. he s still really recovering in the national eye from that response. and it s a hard thing to do. if you re the president, you have all this pomp and circumstance. you have both chambers of congress. you have, you know, national audience. and then supreme court justices in front of you. exactly. and then you have to go after that. what s your setting? bob ji jindal chose to do it in something that looks like a hotel lobby. macdonald chose to do it in the virginia house. his was strange and not well received. so it can be a double edged sword here. okay. jonathan, senator rubio talked about lots of things at the buzz feed event last night. immigration, global warming. but i think he s most thoughtful on the subject of tupac versus biggie. take a listen. the question is why am i not a biggie person? yeah. well, they weren t initially rivals. you know? that developed later on.
