Democratic newcomers Katherine Farina and Meredith Torres and Republican incumbents Carolyn Crouthamel and Bob Jacobus were sworn in at Tuesday night's reorganization meeting.
Unofficial results showed Republican incumbents Carolyn Crouthamel, Eric Kratz and Bob Jacobus as well as Democratic newcomers Meredith Torres and Katherine Farina securing enough votes to be elected to the council.
The ban was originally instituted in the 1990s but has never been enforced. Council considered enforcing the ordinance following complaints about excessive curbside parking on the street but reversed course in response to strenuous opposition from police chief Randall Floyd.
The show of support follows a failed attempt by council members Bob Jacobus and Eric Kratz to defund the library over allegations of explicit material in the children's section.
