And today, after more than 40 years in the television business, we say farewell to a manager who made this TV station Missoula’s best! It was the early 80’s and a young Bob Hermes was a TV sports reporter who’d just graduated from the University of Montana with a Radio-TV degree. “It kind of a bit me that the television industry was exciting and was something I wanted to keep doing and I enjoyed. [I] went from director into sports and became sports director and enjoyed that opportunity as well,” Bob said.

One Class at a Time: Meadow Hill Middle School’s Laurie Anderson and last updated 2020-12-22 20:18:06-05 MISSOULA — Meadow Hill Middle School Special Needs and Life Skills Teacher Laurie Anderson is a recipient of a Republic Services and KPAX-TV One Class at a Time grant. KPAX General Manager Bob Hermes awarded Anderson the check which she will use to buy materials needed for books she is making for her students. The books use pictures in place of words, which are clues that her students solve to help them figure out the meaning of the story. Anderson wants to thank those community members that are helping her assemble these books.

One Class at a Time: Jefferson Preschool Occupational Therapist Laura Liedtka and last updated 2020-12-15 22:52:00-05 MISSOULA — This week s KPAX and Republic Services One Class at a Time winner is Jefferson Preschool Occupational Therapist Laura Liedtka. Republic Services Municipal Manager Chad Bauer along with KPAX General Manager Bob Hermes awarded Liedtka $250 which will be used to buy fine and visual motor skills games for her classroom. She says these skills are so important for overall early childhood development, and that students who are lacking those visual and fine skills tend to participate less in class activities. Liedtka is excited her students will be able to have access to these games.
