Picturesque and prolific Pinehaven Country Club will be busier than usual this summer, hosting two major tournaments as well as keeping its membership happy with its usual pristine playing conditions.
Pinehaven CC, carved through the pine barrens of the Pine Bush in Guilderland and host to NYS Amateur Championships in 1998, 2002 and 2008, will entertain both the Symetra Tour’s local stop, the Twin Bridges Championship and the NYS Women’s Senior Amateur Championships. The Symetra Tour’s local event had been held at Capital Hills at Albany for the last 17 years.

Steel Bender Brewyard is giving the Agora Crisis Center a financial boost with its Shine On Saison.
Six-packs of the limited release will be available while supplies last exclusively at Whole Foods Market locations in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Proceeds will benefit the Agora Crisis Center in Albuquerque. The center operates on a small budget, and most of its phone workers are volunteers who have been trained in suicide prevention. Agora has a small staff and about 100 volunteers. The organization does suicide prevention training around the state on how to recognize warning signs and respond to someone who might be at risk for suicide. New Mexico has one of the nation’s highest rates of suicide.

Watford s Covid community heroes were recognised for their efforts over the pandemic. Credit: Watford Borough Council Three residents in Watford have been honoured for their outstanding efforts to the community during the Covid pandemic. Georgina Cooper, Catherine Agnihotri, and Bob Haggerty were presented with hampers and certificates by the town s mayor Peter Taylor and chairman of Watford Borough Council, Aga Dychton. The awards are part of the council’s Watford Unsung Heroes initiative. Georgina kept her neighbours spirits high during the first lockdown when she dressed up in a full body dinosaur suit. Her tours around her Woodside community helped raise £2,500 for personal protective equipment for care homes.
