FED UP of having no shows or vintage tractor gatherings to go to, Sorn farmers David Shaw and Lex Craig got talking about creating their own entertainment. David suggested ask his cousin Lindsay Clark – who had some stubble fields – if a local ploughing day might be possible, and Lindsay was delighted with the idea. As a result, last month saw a small team of Sorn Ploughmen gather for the event. Lex brought his Massey Ferguson 1200 with a modern Kverneland three furrow reversible plough; David arrived with his County 1184-TW with Ransomes 300 series four furrow reversible plough; Willie Foster brought along his Muirhill 121 using David’s other Ransomes 300 series four furrow reversible plough; and Sandy Anderson came along with his Massey Ferguson 185 with his Ransomes TSR 102, two-furrow reversible plough, which he bought new 46 years ago.
