Early in my career, I became a fan of Stephen Covey. You may be familiar with some of his books like Principle Based Leadership and The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.
Covey, like many of my favorite authors weaves compelling stories to drive his message.
He fosters the notion our behavior is based on our attitude, and our attitude is driven by our knowledge base. He reinforces this premise with a true story about riding the subway home from work.
One evening while riding the subway a man with three small children boarded the train. Covey was reading his newspaper and had given the four little attention until the children began to misbehave.
