A SPECIALIST school in Farnworth has been recognised by the Department for Education for its work in supporting students overcome challenges caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Green Fold Specialist School in Farnworth is the only school of its kind in the UK to be featured by the National Tutoring Programme - a government initiative which provides additional support to schools to help disadvantaged pupils who have been most affected by closures. The maintained specialist school, which is home to 140 pupils and part of the Orchards Foundation, caters for children with complex needs including profound and multiple learning disabilities, severe learning difficulties and autism spectrum disorder.
