With Mercedes firing the opening salvo on the soon-to-be-hotly-contested EV sport luxury sedan market, Audi unveiled the A6 e-tron concept, which is the first of its all-electrics to be based on the Premium Platform Electric architecture Audi has developed with Porsche.
It prioritizes voice commands and touchscreen operations.
Debuting on the upcoming BMW iX EV, the new iDrive system will have a massive curved screen.
With its upcoming iDrive 8 infotainment system, BMW will soon join the likes of the Lucid Air and new Cadillac Escalade in offering customers a giant, curved display.

First and foremost, the new system s core is the BMW Curved Display, which brings together the information and the control displays for one super-large screen that’ll blow your mind. The mix allows for a massive screen estate upgrade, as it merges the 12.3-inch and the 14.9-inch panels into a single unit with a 200 ppi pixel density.
The large screen covers both the instrument panel and the cockpit area, and thanks to the new iDrive 8, it can display information in a straightforward manner that makes it easier to read at a glance. Of course, the screen is angled towards the driver, coming with touch support for convenient input.
What is going on with BMW’s weird decisions lately? Doug DeMuro does not have a clear answer to such a broad question, and in hindsight, not even the Bavarian company has a clear strategy to make things better.

This latest incarnation of the service is based on Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, the technology found on the U1 chip of iPhone.
