However, the civic agency places blame on bikers for the recent accidents. A senior BMTC official offered a different perspective. He said: “If we examine previous accidents involving BMTC, we have observed that some motorists approach from the rear, and as the bus moves forward, the driver may be unaware or, even if the BMTC bus driver applies the brakes upon noticing, the bus might travel a few feet before stopping, potentially endangering the biker.”
Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy said that charging station installations are already complete at Depot 3 (Shantinagar, equipped with a 5,200 kilovolt-amperes (kVA) high tension (HT) electric supply) and Depot 8 (Hebbal, with a 1,400 KVA HT). He further added that ongoing works are in progress at Depot 29 (KR Puram, with a 4,100 KVA HT electric connection) and Depot 10 (Hennur, boasting a 5,000 KVA electricity supply).
The accident happened at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, when the couple and the baby were on their way to catch a Pro-Kabaddi tournament. The police are investigating the exact cause of the collision, however the injured Gurumurthy had said that the BMTC driver was careless, which resulted in Seema’s death.
