It was a busy scene when we got here, but they made quick work of this fire. As you can see, they were set up right here next to the train tracks. Were staying a little bit away from the train tracks, just for our own safety. But today several fires sparked across the east bay, keeping fire crews
Alert about Police Activity near the intersection of jennings and carroll in the citys Bayview District. So far, what we havent seen is interesting. We havent seen any emergency medical personnel on scene, and we havent heard if anyone was hit by gunfire or transported to any hospitals. We have seen assistant chief david lazard here on scene. So some of the departments top brass on scene, as well as multiple detectives. Now, we did speak earlier briefly with police who say that they would be updating us about what is going on here as soon as possible, coming back to our live shot, you can see more officers now arriving back here on scene at what we are hearing. Was an officer involved shooting again, more than a dozen officers, detectives, some of the citys top brass inside this taped off area, at least two Police Vehicles, multiple other vehicles inside of this area. Today are dipping into the 60s for a lot of us that had been in the 80s just a couple of days ago. Were looking outside at a little bit of fog pushing in from the coastline. In fact, some really rapid fog formation off the san mateo coast this morning and a pretty generous onshore breeze. You can see that pushing in towards the coast right now. Most of it is low cloud cover. So visibility has been okay. But you just got kind of a grey start to the morning and a cool windy feel to it. Temperatures currently are in the 40s to 50s oakland and berkeley 51 wall dublin at 52. Some 40s up in the north bay to start things out later on today. A lot of 60s and only a few low 70s and tomorrow, just as cool. If not even cooler. Ill talk more in your forecast as we rain. A peninsula. Smoke was about, id say 100, 100ft up. Its probably been the biggest fire ive seen. That firefighter, it was a long one, but it has come to an end tonight. Good evening everyone. Im mike mibach. And im Heather Holmes. The fire is at sims metal in redwood city, and it broke out just before 3 00 this afternoon. The flames sent smoke into several nearby cities, prompting air quality concerns. Our joey huerta joins us now live from redwood city. And joey, firefighters have pinpointed where in the yard this fire first began. Thats right. Heather and mike all clear now. The fire is out. You can still smell a metallic odor in the air now. And as i step out of the way, you can see crews who work at this scrapyard are still at it, moving things around with their heavy equipment tonight.
