A CHARITY providing access to sea trips for people in Weymouth living with disability has been boosted by a new purpose-built boat. Weymouth charity MV Freedom is to receive delivery of its new purpose-built boat, named the Freedom, on Thursday this week. Members of the charity are travelling to the boat builders Blyth Catamarans in Essex to navigate the vessel back to its berth in Weymouth harbour in Custom House Quay. The Freedom is a 10-metre twin JCB engined catamaran and it replaces the previous vessel, which was sold last year. Dirk Aldous who is chair of the charity, and one of the skippers, said: “We’re very grateful for all the support we get from local individuals, Weymouth community groups, the local authority and local businesses and of course the unrelenting work of our own fundraising team.”
