A fund co-founded by the banking heir Rupert Hambro is on the cusp of acquiring Neil Woodford’s portfolio of environmental tech companies, once valued at around £150m, for just £30m.
Sources said that Hambro Perks, the investor co-founded by Mr Hambro and former McKinsey consultant Dominic Perks, is in final-stage talks to snap up Ombu, a clutch of investments which was previously part of Mr Woodford’s empire. Ombu had a controversial listing on the Guernsey stock exchange cancelled last year as a crisis engulfed the former star stock picker.
