Regional leaders on Feb. 4 approved a plan that they say will provide the public with wonderful views of Willamette Falls.
Approval of the 800-foot alignment finally ends a series of riverwalk delays. Leaders hope to stay within budget by constructing a scaled-back pedestrian walkway along the Willamette River.
Willamette Falls Legacy Project Manager Brian Moore said he was excited to start the clock on 18 months for design and another 18 months for construction, but he said the timeline is somewhat out of our control due to the permitting process being in the hands of regulatory agencies like the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

OCPD: Timothy Steven Miller, 35, fires one round from a 9mm handgun at former Blue Heron paper facility
On Sunday, Jan. 31, Oregon City police arrested a felon who randomly shot a bullet into the former Blue Heron Paper Co. mill from the top of the cliff along the McLoughlin Promenade.
No one was injured at about 1 p.m., when officers responded to a witness report of a man shooting along the 300 block of Promenade Street.
Officers identified the suspect as 35-year-old Timothy Steven Miller, who they determined had fired one round from a 9mm handgun. The weapon was recovered during the investigation.

the falls, if project planning moves to execution.
The truth about the previous industrial site has never been properly told. That is the purpose of this article. Having been involved in environmental work all my life, I watched this mill site. One of the most difficult and polluting plants became the nation s premier example of environmental cleanup and enhancement of industrial operations. The mill site, of course, is the center of Oregon City s evolution as First City at the falls.
