Town are amongst a number of clubs who will be keeping an eye on Icelandic youngster Kolbein Sigthórsson at this month s European U17 Championship finals in Belgium. The Blues, Reading, Blackburn and West Ham are all sending scouts to watch the striker in action.
Town boss Paul Jewell has named an unchanged side for this afternoon’s game against bottom-of-the-table Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena. Keeper Alex McCarthy, back after a one-match ban, coming in for Richard Wright on the bench is the only change to the 16.
Michael Chopra’s last-gasp winner saw the Blues to a dramatic 3-2 victory over Coventry at the Ricoh Arena. Town went ahead through a deflected Jay Emmanuel-Thomas shot but allowed the home side back into the game before the break via a Sammy Clingan penalty and Gary Deegan. However, in the second half Chopra followed up Lee Martin’s penalty to equalise, then clinched all three points at the death.
Chief executive Derek Bowden has confirmed that Town have held talks with former Drogheda central defender Graham Gartland, but says the 25-year-old is yet to be offered a contract. Free agent Gartland recently spent a week training with the Blues.
