Pre-med student uses time in quarantine to publish two children’s books on bullying and depression

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. In 2018, Port Richmond High School senior Don James Kiriella, then 17, took a stand against bullying and published his anti-bullying children’s book, “The Bullied Tomato.”
Now, 20, and a pre-med student at the combined BS-MD at SUNY Old Westbury, the Mariners Harbor resident has recently published two more books in the “found time” during the COVID-19 quarantine.
