The Delaware Blue Coats are about halfway into the 2021 NBA G League season, and Paul Reed has been making plenty of noise.
The team owns a 7-1 record, tied for the top spot in the NBA G League standings. In his first week as a Blue Coat, Reed averaged 25 points per game and shot a 62-percent from the field. These numbers earned him NBA G League Player of the Week honors for Week 1 of the season.
Reed, the 6-8 big-man out of DePaul University, is playing for the Blue Coats on a two-way contract with Delaware and the Philadelphia 76ers. The Sixers selected Reed with the 58

The players and coaches aren’t the only Blue Coats participating in the NBA G League bubble.
Members of the team’s statistics crew – Zipu Zhang, Chris Asdourian and Dave Scott – were selected by league officials to operate the scorer’s table for not only Blue Coats games like usual, but for the entire league as well.

Zhang, Asdourian and Scott are responsible for a variety of the operations related to statistics and scoring games.
“There’s three jobs. There’s the caller that’s the person watching the game, and just saying who shot the ball, who rebounded it, steals, assists,” says Scott, who is in his seventh season with the stats crew.

In his second year of professional basketball, Rayjon Tucker is excited and grateful to get back on the court with the Delaware Blue Coats.
After splitting the 2019-20 campaign between the G League’s Wisconsin Herd and NBA’s Utah Jazz, Tucker inked a two-way contract with the Sixers on January 22.
“It’s giving me the opportunity to, you know, get back in the scene of the NBA. Just coming off the contract with the Jazz, getting traded. It’s just another opportunity to go in there and prove myself,” Tucker said. “Just another opportunity to get back on the court, for real. It’s always a blessing because, you know, the basketballs stop bouncing at some point.”
