to review documents taken from his home in florida by federal agents last month. a judge came down in favor of the trump team s request today rejecting arguments from prosecutors that the special master was both unnecessary and unwise. correspondent david spunt has tonight s top story. good evening, david. this judge s order out hours ago is a temporary legal victory for the former president and gives him more political opportunities to attack an ongoing grand jury investigation into his handling of sensitive documents. days after asking what is the harm with naming an outside neutral party to review the thousands of documents seized by the fbi, judge aileen cannon cited unprecedented circumstances in ordering the special master, quote: to review the seized property for personal items and documents and potentially privileged material subject to claims of attorney-client and/or executive privilege. the judge s order still allows the intelligence community to continue its r
planting evidence at mar-a-lago. then, after it was revealed the documents were classified, trump s team said he had taken them home to work on them, falsely claiming that president obama had done the same. then, this third reason why it was okay from trump s team, quote, he had a standing order that documents were moved from the oval office, taken to the residence, were deemed to be declassified the moment he removed them. former national security adviser john bolton told nbc news this. i think that claim is almost certainly a lie. i was never aware of anything even remotely approximaing that policy and haven t heard anything of it since i left. so i think this is made up. and i think a key point here is when somebody is making up stories like that, i think it indicates a level of desperation. as we try to figure out why and how those classified documents ended up at mar-a-lago, nbc news has uncovered new details about the final days of the trump presidency and the last-
