CI Global Asset Management Files Preliminary Prospectus to Re-Open CI Galaxy Bitcoin Fund

CI Global Asset Management (“CI GAM”) announced today it has filed and obtained a receipt for a preliminary prospectus relating to a new issue of CI Galaxy Bitcoin Fund (the “Fund”), which trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange (“TSX”) in U.S. dollars and Canadian dollars under the symbols “BTCG.U” and “BTCG.UN”, respectively.
The new issue consists of Class A units priced in U.S. dollars (the “Offering”) and will be priced so as not to be dilutive to the Fund’s net asset value at the time of pricing. The closing of the Offering is subject to regulatory and TSX approval.

Canadian mutual fund manager CI Financial Corp. completed a US$72 million initial public offering of a Bitcoin fund to help clients access the cryptocurrency in the midst of an eye-catching rally.
The IPO consisted of units sold at US$12.88 ($10) apiece, CI Financial said in a statement Wednesday. The CI Galaxy Bitcoin Fundâs shares will start trading in U.S. and Canadian dollars on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The fund enables CI Financialâs clients to hold the cryptocurrency through their existing investment channels without needing to venture into new accounts or platforms, CI Financial Chief Executive Officer Kurt MacAlpine said. The offering attracted interest from a broad range of backers, including institutions, individuals, high-net-worth investors and financial advisers, he said.
