HMC encourages public to donate blood during Ramadan

Doha: Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has encouraged people to donate blood during the holy month of Ramadan.
HMC has ensured the safety and of blood donors and said that infection control practices are in place at it’s Blood Donor Centers and mobile units at Souq Waqif and Msheireb Downtown.
One out of every 10 patients admitted to hospitals may be in urgent need of a transfusion of blood or blood products, and there are many patients whose lives depend on blood and blood products transfusions. The unit of blood donated may benefit at least three patients if used as separate blood components.

Doha: Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Qatar Blood Services operates four sites during the holy month of Ramadan, including two mobile units in Souq Waqif and Msheireb Downtown.
In the present COVID-19 situation it has been ensured that donors can safely donate blood and recruit more donors.
A social media campaign under the slogan “Qatar . It’s in Our Blood” has urged citizens and residents to become regular blood donors to make a difference in someone’s life by donating blood.
“It’s more important than ever to ensure we have sufficient blood supplies. You can make a difference by becoming a blood donor by visiting one of our dedicated Blood Donor Centers,” HMC has said.

Doha: Without blood donors, many patients simply would not have been living today. Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Qatar Blood Services has launched a nationwide campaign sending out a message that we are all connected in Qatar. Through blood donation, each individual can contribute to a sustainable blood supply.
The campaign, which runs under the slogan ‘Qatar… It’s in Our Blood’ until April 2021, encourages citizens and residents to save a life and give blood today.

The campaign was launched at Katara Cultural Village and is running under the slogan - Qatar It s in Our Blood. We want to encourage citizens and residents to save a life and give blood today, said Dr. Einas Al Kuwari, Chairperson of the HMC Department of labouratory Medicine and Pathology. Giving blood saves lives. The blood you give is a lifeline in an emergency and for people who need long-term treatments. We need new blood donors from all backgrounds to ensure there is the right blood available for patients who need it.
