queen s platinum jubilee. we re live from buckingham palace on all pageantry for today. announcer: live from cnn center, this is cnn newsroom with kim brunhuber. and we begin with america s gun violence epidemic only growing worse. in the last few hours we learned at least three people were killed and 11 more wounded in a mass shooting in philadelphia. police tell cnn wpvi, they believe there were multiple shooters firing into a crowd. two guns were recovered at the scene. a philadelphia police officer was within about 10 to 15 yards of one of the shooters at the time. the officer opened fire. it is not clear if the suspect was hit. the district where this happened has a number of popular bars and restaurants which draw large weekend crowds. police said there have been no arrests. in wisconsin an investigation is underway after a former judge was shot and killed inside his own home in what officials are calling a targeted attack. and now we are learning that the suspe
gunman fired more shots and children inside the classroom he was holed up in called 911. top police officials now admit it was a mistake to not engage the shooter earlier. listen. why was this decision made not to go in and rescue these children? again, you know, the on-scene commander considered a barricaded subject and there was time and no children at risk. of course it wasn t the wrright decision. it was wrong, period. one father telling cnn he wonders if his daughter and others might have survived if authorities had acted more quickly. i mean, how can you not think about that? we now know the names and faces of all 21 lives cut short. funerals sadly set to begin next week. the texas governor says miss have a lot to answer for. cnn s ed lavandera picks up the story. i was misled. i am livid by what happened. reporter: scexplosive reacti from the texas governor. the information that i was given turned out in part to be inaccurate. and i m absolutely livid about
evacuating students and teachers from other parts of the school. even negotiating with the suspect. but they didn t have enough information on his exact location for an immediate take down. video from the school from outside the school meantime shows parents screaming at police to storm the school. the wall street journal talked to one parent who says she was put in handcuffs. police tackled another parent and threw them to the ground. and a third was pepper sprayed. police insist their actions inside the school did save lives. the american people need to understand that officers are making entry into the building. they do not know where the gunman is. they re hearing gunshots, they re receiving gunshots. at that point, if they proceeded any further not knowing where this suspect was at, they could have been shot. they could have been killed. at that point that gunman would have the opportunity to kill other people inside the school. video posted oen facebook shows the
