Muscat: The Department of Blood Bank Services (DBBS) has appealed to all to continue donating blood during the holy month of Ramadan to avoid a shortage in supply.
A statement said, During the month of Ramadan, the number of blood donors drops dramatically at the Central Blood Bank (Baushar). Donate blood and save lives. Sunday to Thursday between 8 am and 1 pm.”
Blood donors who wish to donate blood at the Central Blood Bank during the restrictions on movement should take the following steps:
1. Book a blood donation appointment via WhatsApp 94555648.
2. Submit your information along with a copy of your ID card to the same phone number.
Muscat: Oman’s Ministry of Health has started a year-long blood donation campaign, Be Proactive, aimed at reaching out to youth to donate blood.
The Department of Blood Bank Services (DBBS), responsible for the blood-bank related services tweeted that the campaign focuses on motivating Omani youth to take initiative in this noble humanitarian exercise and spread the practice of blood donation.
The campaign was launched under the patronage of Sayyid Kamel bin Fahd Al Said, Assistant Secretary-General of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Cabinet Affairs.
Due to the ongoing pandemic situation, the shortage of blood was felt at the hospitals and blood banks too were stretched to meet the requirement.
