Blue light is, as the name implies, light with blue wavelengths. Sunlight is composed of visible and invisible ultraviolet light rays. Visible light rays come in red, orange, yellow, green, and blue colors, each of which has a different energy and wavelength. Blue light is good. But like everything else that s good, too much of it can be harmful. Blue light boosts energy and alertness, helps with memory and cognitive function, and elevates mood. It s essential in chronobiology to regulate our body s natural wake and sleep cycle (circadian rhythm).  As such, we naturally crave light during the day, and just as naturally, we need darkness to sleep. So, too much light at the wrong time can be harmful as it upsets our natural rhythm and can cause daytime fatigue.
