this morning on world news now holiday this morning on world news now holiday hassles. winter officially arrives this week with storm systems that can mess up your christmas travel plans. after a blizzard hit the southwest and the great plains, forecasters are now concerned about a nor easter blowing in as travelers, of course, try to get out. it is wednesday, december 21st. good morning. i m sunny hostin. millions of christmas travelers have been watching this storm after it dumped nearly two feet of snow in the great plains. see who is getting rain today and why travelers here in the northeast could also be facing some delays. uh-oh. here we go again. all you travelers. this is not the news you wanted
this is when she was 4-year-old. her parents took this in 2001 and posted it up last year so now she ll be about 12, 13 years old. amazing little girl. i love that. i love that. there s something iteased earlier in the show. the i-report that went viral, the snowstorm out of new jersey, i-reporter michael black in belmar, new jersey, took time lapsed pictures of the snow falling the other day when this blizzard hit, and two. you know twhapd, look, we know what it s like when massive snow falls. you watch it in type collapse from nothing over about 24 hours to this massive pile-up. wow. it s impressive. and before we go, just because we loved it so much last hour in case anyone missed it, the cat looked like he s dressing up as a bunny. a couple of our viewers sent me a little reality check on it.
pathetic plowing attempt. well, for a city that prides itself on its ability to respond, this week s holiday blizzard has left many new yorkers wondering why it took days for them to dig out of the snow, basically days after the blizzard hit. reporter: allegations and accusations swept through the big apple just days after a monster blizzard blanketed roadways and runways clogging neighborhoods and stranding thousands of travelers. at issue, whether new york city s sanitation workers were ordered to intentionally delay clean-up efforts ahead of budget cuts to the department. i don t think it took place, but we re going to do an investigation to make sure that it didn t. it would be an outrage if it took place, but i just don t know. reporter: the rumors reached a fever pitch after a city councilman said three sanitation workers and two other state supervisors contacted him.
injured. snow plows still haven t cleared the snow from all streets of new york. it s been five days since the blizzard hit. mayor michael bloomberg has apologized for not doing a better job. our susan candiotti wanted to know where the snow goes after it s picked up. it s right there behind you. are you able to get really close to that mountain of snow we saw you parked next to earlier in the day? reporter: i wanted to snuggle up to it again, but they won t let me anymore because they re afraid i might get squished by one of these big guys, right? they have at least four front-end loaders out here, tony. this is just one block among the many, many streets in manhattan. they re longer going east to west than the blocks are going north and south. all the way down this east-west block as far as the eye can see, mountains and mountains of snow. at least 20 feet high. at least. and all of it is coming just from times square.
