That’s a revelation that comes after a decade of experience; looking back, however stealthymask says that the pride of urban exploration has its pitfalls.
“It started with having fun, and I had to prove my capabilities, but with recognition came ego.”
Rooftopping has grown to have a highly competitive element, where climbing a structure is the same as conquering it. Explorers in larger cities like New York or Toronto are rumoured to attach locks to rooftop doors to prevent others from getting a photo.
“I hate this competitive aspect now, it doesn’t get me anywhere any more,” stealthymask says. “Being competitive is fun and gets you somewhere, but at the end of the day it doesn’t bring you that much.”
